Fertility issues are a specialty at our clinic. Over the years we have built a reputation for working with doctors at local fertility clinics as well as our valued nurse midwives in the area.
Women
We have designed protocols to help regulate the menstrual cycle to treat issues such as irregular periods, absence of a period and ovulation problems. Acupuncture improves blood flow to the ovaries and endometrium. It also stimulates the hypothalamus which can regulate hormone imbalances, and improves LH (luteinising hormone) levels associated with ovulation. We often provide acupuncture for women undergoing In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), which can double the success rate of IVF. By stimulating the "feel good" production of endorphins, acupuncture is also helpful in reducing stress and calming anxiety for women trying to conceive.
Men
Male factor infertility is the primary cause in about 30% of all infirtility cases and 30-50% of couples trying to get pregnant a second time. After interpreting a semen analysis, we have protocols to stimulate sperm volume, motility and shape. ( See this article. Treatment make take several months to achieve improvement. Most men are pleasantly surprised to report an increased sense of well being, relaxation and stress reduction from the stimulation of endorphins released with regular acupuncture treatment
